15 pounds of pot goes flying after LA man crashes car in Coast police pursuit, sheriff says

A Hammond man held on a drug-trafficking charge led authorities on a high-speed pursuit before he crashed shortly after exiting Interstate 10 Monday, Harrison County Sheriff Troy Peterson said in a press release.

Rodney Antonio Lusk, 49, was also arrested on a charge of felony fleeing.

Sheriff’s deputies had stopped Lusk in the westbound lane of the I-10 and were questioning him when he drove off, a release said.

Lusk sped along the I-10 in his Nissan Altima before he exited and crashed into an open field, the release said.

Upon impact, the high-grade marijuana flew out of the car.

Lusk was taken to the Harrison County jail, where Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain set his total bond at $200,000.

At the time of the arrest, Lusk was already on probation for an unrelated federal charge.
