Pedestrian killed in Hancock County hit and run identified

The Mississippi Highway Patrol announced the identity of the victim of a fatal hit and run in Hancock County in the early morning hours of Saturday: David Aaron Simon, a 42-year-old man from Jacksonville, Florida.

The highway patrol responded to U.S. 90 and Mississippi 607, west of Bay St. Louis, just after 2 a.m. on Sept. 26, according to a press release. The victim, who was not identified until next of kin had been notified, was in the road and the vehicle involved had fled the scene.

Highway patrol crash reconstruction investigators interviewed witnesses who saw the hit and run; they said the vehicle was “a small gold colored passenger car.”

Tuesday’s press release said no new information was available about the vehicle or suspect and the highway patrol’s investigation is continuing.
