Second suspect in Gulfport drive-by shooting that left two injured surrenders, his attorney confirms
Gulfport police now have two suspects, including one who surrendered Monday afternoon, in custody for their alleged involvement in a drive-by shooting Sunday that left two injured.
Kobe Hawthorne, 17, was arrested Sunday on five counts of aggravated assault and one count of drive-by shooting. A relative, identified as a Ahmad Hawthorne, was being sought early Monday on the same charges but then surrendered at the Gulfport Police Department with his attorney, Michael Crosby, by his side.
The shooting occurred around 11:48 a.m. Sunday in the 8400 block of U.S. 49, a Gulfport Police Department release said.
When police got to the scene, they found two people with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Their conditions were not released Monday.
