Thieves caught on video stealing rescued puppies from Mississippi animal shelter
The Lucedale Animal Shelter is trying to find out who broke in and stole several dogs, including a nursing mother, on Tuesday night.
“We are trying to get the word out in hopes of catching the thieves who took, among other dogs, a nursing mother, leaving some of her puppies behind,” said Matthew Roberts, chairman of the board for Dixie Adoptables.
A reward of $825 has been posted to help find the people who stole the dogs. The shelter has notified local authorities of the thefts.
The shelter has photos and video of the culprits caught on surveillance video. Both were wearing masks during the break-in.
The people who broke into the shelter cut the locks off kennels, stole a nursing mother dog, two of her puppies and a miniature dachshund.
Ropes were tied around the necks of the dogs, and they were taken from the shelter.
According to the shelter, all the animals were among a group of dogs taken for animal cruelty and neglect from a location in Greene County.
