Two men arrested in Pike County are accused in deadly Biloxi shooting, police say
Biloxi police announced Wednesday the arrest of two men in connection with a July 24 shooting that left one man injured and another dead.
Corey Morace Cowart Jr., 24, of Biloxi, and Coderian Marik Cain, 21, of McComb, were taken into custody Tuesday in Pike County.
Police arrested Cain on charges of manslaughter, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon by a felon. Cowart was arrested on a charge of accessory after the fact.
Both men were transferred from Pike County to Biloxi after their arrests. Both were jailed in Harrison County on Wednesday, with Cain’s total bond set at $550,000. Cowart is being held on a $250,000 bond.
According to police, the men are accused of committing the crimes during a July 24 encounter with two men outside Elmwood Apartment on Lawrence Street.
Cain is accused of being the alleged shooter.
After their arrests, both men were transferred to Biloxi and later taken to the Harrison County jail.
One of the two victims, a 28-year-old man from Biloxi, was hospitalized but later died of gunshot wounds. The other victim, 27, suffered non life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police said they identified the two men as suspects through information they received during the investigation.
