‘It’s very suspicious.’ Truck driver missing from Jackson County rest stop, police say.

Gautier police are asking for help to find a truck driver whose 18-wheeler was found abandoned at a rest area in the eastbound lane of Interstate 10, Interim Police Chief Danny Selover said.

Dimitri Rai Williams was last seen when he parked his truck at the rest stop around 6 a.m. Monday, got out and got into the passenger side of a black SUV that had followed him there.

Williams hasn’t been seen or heard from since, and police have recovered his cellphone, though they declined to say where it was found.

“It’s very unusual for him,” Selover said Wednesday. “He’s a very dedicated worker. Nobody has heard from him. He hasn’t called his wife or anything.”

His employer told police Williams always checked in with them during his routes, which is why they used GPS in the 18-wheeler to track down his truck when he couldn’t be reached.

Williams was headed to Georgia from California to make a delivery.

“We really need some help to find him,” Selover said. “It’s really suspicious.”

To report information, call the Gautier Police Department at 228-497-2486 or Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers at 877-787-5898.
