Biloxi man dies in fatal Gulfport crash with 18-wheeler hauling bricks
A Biloxi man died in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning on U.S. 49 after his truck with a flatbed was hit by southbound 18-wheeler hauling bricks, according to Gulfport police.
Zachary Andrews, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene at about 9:30 a.m., Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer said. He died of blunt force trauma.
The collision occurred near West Wortham Road.
Andrews was attempting to turn onto the southbound lane of U.S. 49 when the crash happened. The 18-wheeler was headed south as well.
The impact pushed the 18-wheeler into the northbound lane and threw bricks that the 18-wheeler was hauling all over the highway.
Gulfport police are investigating the crash.
