Treasurer took $16,000 from a Biloxi youth soccer group, police say
A Biloxi man arrested on an embezzlement charge is accused of taking $16,000 from a youth soccer group, according to a release from Biloxi police.
Geoffrey Alan Lewis, 33, was treasurer of the Biloxi Soccer Organization when he’s accused of stealing the money and converting it to his own use.
Police identified Lewis as the the suspect after reviewing discrepancies in the group’s banking account, police said.
Lewis is being held at the Harrison County jail on a $25,000 fond set by Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain.
Biloxi Soccer is a youth sports group that has a “Fall small-sided season, DIII Spring recreational season, DII All-Star travel teams, Annual Summer Camps, & Academy’s,” its website says. “We have multiple State Championships and Tournament wins in all age divisions boys and girls.”
