Biloxi resident arrested in April severe beating of Coast man
A Biloxi man wanted in connection with the severe beating of a man in his 50s earlier this month was taken into custody Thursday, Biloxi Police Maj. Christopher De Back said.
Hunter Bryce Garcia, 26, was picked up shortly after midnight, De Back said. He was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault and taken to the Harrison County jail.
Biloxi police began an investigation after responding to an April 6 report of an assault at a home on Frank B. Corso Road.
When police got there, they found the victim lying on the ground with injuries from a severe beating. The victim was hospitalized and is still undergoing treatment for his injuries, De Back said Thursday.
The assault occurred after the two men got into argument that then turned physical, De Back said. Police say the two men were acquainted but said they are not yet releasing the nature of their relationship or what they were initially arguing about.
Garcia is jailed on a $250,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Nick Patano.
Garcia’s arrest Thursday isn’t a first for him.
He has a history of arrests in Harrison County dating back to as early as March 2013, when he was picked up in Biloxi on a felony charge of malicious mischief.
Over the years, he’s been arrested on other felony charges of possession with intent to sell meth and receiving stolen property. In addition, he’s been picked on warrants through the Mississippi Department of Corrections for probation violations related to earlier convictions.
Garcia has also been arrested over the years on misdemeanor charges of public drunk, domestic violence by simple assault and simple assault with injuries.
The majority of his arrests have occurred in Biloxi, with some of the alleged violations reported in D’Iberville, according to the Harrison County jail docket.
