Biloxi girl, 16, died on operating table after botched robbery. 5 teens charged, cops say

Five teens have been charged with capital murder in the shooting death of a 16-year-old Biloxi girl during a robbery gone wrong, police say.

Biloxi police were called at 1:48 p.m. Monday for a medical emergency at a home in the 2000 block of Rustwood Drive, off Popp’s Ferry Road near the Margaret Sherry Library.

Biloxi Fire and American Medical Response began triage on the young woman and discovered she had been shot. She was transported to a local hospital and later died of her injuries, said Maj. Christopher De Back.

She was identified as Madison Harris, 16, of Biloxi, by Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer.

She died in the operating room about 3:30 p.m., Switzer said. An autopsy is expected to be performed Wednesday in Jackson, he said.

Charged as adults with capital murder are five suspects, all of Biloxi:

  • Yakeshia L. Blackmon, 17
  • Willow O. Blackmon, 15
  • Jasmine Joy-Sade Kelley, 15
  • Jarvis Jermaine Cook, 17
  • Jaquez Devonte Porter, 17

Cook, who was out on bond on a 2019 aggravated assault charge in Gulfport, is being held without bond. Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain set bond for the other four teens at $1 million each.

Police said the five teenagers went to the victim’s home to allegedly rob her and threatened her with a gun. During a fight, the victim was shot, police say, and the suspects fled from her home in different directions.

Using witness statements and other evidence, police were able to determine the sequence of events and locate the five suspects.
