Wounded man called 911 for help. 2 others in his home were dead, Pearl River County cops say

Two Picayune residents are dead and another was wounded in a shooting Sunday at a home in Pearl River County, said Mark Ogden, chief investigator at the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators got a call about the shooting around 1:30 p.m. from Amos Bennett, 68, of Picayune.

Bennett had been shot and dialed 911 to get help at his home on Bennett Apartment Road in Pearl River County’s Nicholson community.

When deputies got there, Ogden said Tuesday, they found Bennett’s sister, Leslie Ann Bennett, 66, dead along with Brian Kennedy, 49, both of Picayune.

Amos Bennett, though shot, survived.

So far, investigators are not saying who the possible suspect was or what may have prompted the shooting.

“Right now, it’s an open investigation to find out exactly what happened,” Ogden said Tuesday.

To report information, call the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office at 601-403-2530.
