18-year-old arrested after man shot off of Beach Boulevard, Biloxi police say

An 18-year-old was arrested after a man was shot off of Beach Boulevard just before midnight Saturday, Biloxi police say.

Officers responded at 11:09 p.m. to the 1700 block of U.S. 90, which is just west of the Rodenberg Avenue and contains Biloxi’s restaurant row and new boardwalk.

A man in his 20s had non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital, Maj. Christopher De Back said in a press release.

Officers found the suspect around 11:45 p.m. in the area of Benachi Avenue and Division Street.

They arrested Malik Dajon Payton of Biloxi on a charge of aggravated assault.

De Back said Payton was acquainted with the victim and shot him during an altercation.

Payton was taken to the Harrison County jail, and Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain set a bond of $150,000.
