A Bayside Park man covered in blood was arrested after two carjackings and a shooting in Bay St. Louis, the Hancock County sheriff said.

At least four people were shot and officials confirmed one person died, according to a news report from the Sea Coast Echo.

Sheriff Ricky Adam said the suspect is accused shooting the victims while attempting to steal a vehicle in Bay St. Louis, then using a shotgun to steal another pickup truck before driving back to his home.

Deputies found the man covered in blood and took him into custody, Adam said.

Adam said Bay police will release information about the shootings since they happened in the city’s jurisdiction. The suspect was arrested in the county.

Adam did not know the condition of the victims and referred other questions to Bay Police Chief Gary Ponthieux.

Bay St. Louis Deputy Chief Alvin Kingston was on scene at Bay Park Apartments where the victims had been shot.

Kingston said no other details were immediately available.
