Popular pharmacist killed at Woolmarket Pharmacy, woman says

Biloxi police Maj. Chris De Back has confirmed that two people were found dead Tuesday morning after a shooting at Woolmarket Pharmacy at 13066 Shriner's Blvd.

De Back said the shooting was a murder-suicide.

A man who works at a nearby business said he spoke with a woman who worked at the pharmacy after the shooting. The woman said she "saw a woman walk in with a gun, heard a gunshot and ran."

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove identified the deceased as Daniel Day and Sarah Chance.

Donna Morrow, who works at the pharmacy, said Day owned both Woolmarket Pharmacy and TD Pharmacy. She said Chance had been an employee off and on for three years.

Day also helped out at Triplett-Day Pharmacy, owned by his father, in downtown Gulfport, she said.

He was a member of the Woolmarket community for more than 20 years, Morrow said, often delivering prescriptions to neighbors who couldn't get out and even mowing lawns for some of the seniors in the area.

"This is going to hit very hard. Dan was also so helpful to his employees. ... His family is the nicest family I have known," she said. "He was the best boss I have ever had."
