Man who died in a Gulfport hit-and-run is identified. Police want to know who hit him.

The Harrison County coroner has identified the man who died after he was hit by a vehicle Wednesday morning.

Coroner Gary Hargrove said Deavours Ross, 49, of Gulfport died of his injuries.

The accident happened just before 1 a.m. in the 400 block of Live Oak Avenue. Police responded to a report of a man lying in the street.

Ross was taken to Memorial Hospital at Gulfport, where he died from injuries police say were caused by being hit by a vehicle.

Gulfport police are looking for the vehicle in the ongoing investigation.
