The man sought in the death of a Moss Point teen has turned himself in, police say

A man wanted in connection with the shooting and killing of a 16-year-old in Moss Point has turned himself in.

According to Moss Point Interim Police Chief Brandon Ashley, Jeylen Oneil Fountain, 22, turned himself in shortly after a shooting at 3525 Rollins St.

Police received a call from a woman who said she heard several gunshots in the area of Rollins Street, Ashley said. The victim, Xavier Davison, was rushed to Singing River Hospital with a single gunshot wound to the chest. There, Ashley said, he was pronounced dead.

Several eye witnesses identified Fountain as the shooter, and police issued a BOLO for Fountain throughout Jackson County.

Fountain was arrested on a charge of manslaughter-culpable negligence and taken to Jackson County jail.

Moss Point Mayor Mario King called a press conference to address the increasing violent crimes in his city. Residents packed the building to support him, one resident said the “senseless violence” is out of hand.
