Three agencies are on the scene in Gulfport where a body was found Friday afternoon.
Gulfport police and Harrison County deputies taped off a patch of woods north of 23rd Street and east of 30th Avenue, supporting Pass Christian police. Harrison County coroner Gary Hargrove was also on the scene.
Hargrove said Gulfport received a call about 11 a.m. from two men who were walking down the street and spotted the body at the edge of the woods.
The person was missing identification.
“At this point in time, all deaths like this are considered suspicious and considered as a homicide until we can prove otherwise,” Hargrove said. “That’s what the autopsy will do.”
Gulfport police referred all questions regarding the investigation to Pass police, who asked for help Thursday night in the disappearance of 60-year-old Kenneth J. Charlot. It’s unclear if the two investigations are connected.
