Biloxi police arrested a homeless man Wednesday who they say assaulted an emergency medical technician in September.

Marvin Burrell Watkins, a Florida native, was jailed on a charge of felony simple assault on an emergency medical technician.

On Sept. 29, Biloxi police and EMTs with American Medical Response responded to the to 2000 block of Pass Road to help Watkins after he was injured from falling off his bicycle, Biloxi police Maj. Chris De Back said.

AMR was taking Watkins, 58, to the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System (Biloxi VA) hospital for medical attention when he “became disorderly,” De Back said.

De Back said Watkins assaulted a paramedic once they arrived at the hospital.

The paramedic did not require any medical attention.

Watkins is held at the Harrison County jail on a $25,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain.
