A man sought on a domestic complaint by a Biloxi police officer crashed into another vehicle on Interstate 110 and apparently shot and killed himself, police said.

The suspect struck another vehicle, causing it to flip in the left northbound lane near the Rodriguez Street exit, D’Iberville Police Capt. Marty Griffin said. Northbound lanes of I-110 were closed about 1 1/2 hours.

The name of the man who died has not been released yet.

Police in Biloxi and D’Iberville closed all ramps leading to northbound lanes from about 5:30 p.m. until 6:40 p.m.

Biloxi police were responding to a domestic complaint when they saw the suspect driving from U.S. 90 to I-110 in a northbound lane, Griffin said.

They were trying to catch up with the vehicle when they came up on a crash on I-110, he said.

They found a flipped vehicle with an injured driver.

“They found the suspect deceased inside the other vehicle from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Griffin said.

The driver in the overturned vehicle was taken to a hospital. He was being released after treatment, he said.
