Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man they say hit a high school student with his car Thursday night.

Sheriff Mike Ezell said a 17-year-old was walking on the Vancleave High campus with two friends about 6:30 p.m. when they got into an argument with driver of a black car.

The driver hit the teen boy in the leg, causing injuries, and left the scene, Ezell said.

A family member took the boy to the hospital, where he was treated and released.

Deputies are still looking for the male driver, Ezell said. Anyone with information about this crime should call the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department at 228-769-3063 or Crimestoppers at 1-877-787-5898.
