Photos of suspects in Long Beach vehicle burglaries led to a tip -- and arrests

Long Beach police arrested a Gulfport man and a juvenile in connection with multiple vehicle burglaries in the city.

Police Chief Billy Seal said Genesis M. Searles, 18, and a 17-year-old accomplice were each charged with four counts of auto burglary.

The vehicles were unlocked. Among the items taken were a gun, cell phones, prescription drugs, credit cards and change left in the vehicles, Seal said.

Seal said photos released to the media led to a tip that was developed into the arrests.

The arrests were made in connection with the investigation of vehicle burglaries on Pittman Drive and Sea Pine Lane in the city, which is near the Gulfport border.

Seal said Gulfport Police assisted in the investigation. Charges could be filed in the neighboring city as well.

Searles was taken to the Harrison County jail. His bond from a previous charge was revoked and he is to remain at the jail pending further court action.

The juvenile was taken to to the Harrison County Juvenile Detention Center.
