Vancleave woman dies after her car strikes a school bus and a tree, sheriff says

A Vancleave woman died after the car she was driving struck a school bus and then a tree, Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell said.

Jeannette Butler Migues’ car struck a bus at Old Fort Bayou and Antioch roads about 6:30 a.m. Monday, Ezell said. She later died.

Migues, 59, was driving a Toyota Forerunner and was not wearing a seatbelt, the sheriff said.

No students were on the bus at the time, he said.

Deputies determined the side mirror of Migues’ car struck the back corner of the school bus and the car left the road, he said. The car crossed a ditch and the driveway of a home and came to rest when it struck a tree.

Migues was the only person in her vehicle.
