A man who stole packages delivered to homes before Christmas two years ago is accused of doing it again.
Investigators who arrested Jason Robert Phillips on Thursday morning say he “has been a Grinch” — again, Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell said in a news release.
Phillips, of Moss Point, is suspected of stealing packages delivered to homes and left on front porches in the St. Andrews subdivision, Ezell said.
A surveillance camera allegedly filmed him while he stole packages from a home on Tuesday, the sheriff said.
Phillips was living in Ocean Springs in December 2015 when a Gulf Park Estates resident called 911 to report he saw a man pick up a Christmas package from in front of a home and drive off.
The resident wrote down the tag number of the vehicle, called 911, and followed Phillips as deputies headed their way. Deputies arrested Phillips at his home, where they found other packages stolen from area homes, Ezell said at the time.
Phillips was convicted in 2016 for the thefts from 2015, he said.
Investigators on Thursday arrested Phillips on four counts of petit larceny and charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. The charges are misdemeanors and will be prosecuted in Jackson County Justice Court.
Phillips was held at the county jail with no bond pending a hearing. His bonds later Thursday totaled $12,000.
