Gunshot pierces an occupied home. It wasn’t a drive-by, police say.

Shots fired in a Biloxi neighborhood pierced a nearby home, striking the living room wall but causing no injuries, police said.

A resident of Ahern Street reported the shooting early Sunday night.

“As scary as it was, it appears someone discharged a gun in the area,” Biloxi Police Maj. Christopher De Back said.

“It appears the shots were fired from a street to the east. That’s the direction it came from.”

It is not believed to be a drive-by shooting, he said.

Ahern Street is north of Howard Avenue and between Holly and Dorries streets.

A woman told police she was sitting in the living room when she heard multiple shots fired and realized a bullet had struck her living room wall just a few feet from where she was sitting, De Back said.

Police found no one suspicious in the area, he said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Biloxi Police Department at 228-392-0641 or Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-877-787-5898.
