The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an aggravated assault that resulted in the hospitalization of the victim.

Sheriff Troy Peterson announced Saturday that deputies responded Friday night to a complaint of a female who was screaming for help on Bethel Road near the intersection of Marvin William Road in Saucier.

Residents came to the aid of the victim, who was incoherent and visibly injured, Peterson said. Deputies, along with American Medical Response, transported the victim to a local hospital to receive treatment for her injuries.

According to Peterson, the ongoing investigation revealed the victim was left on the side of Bethel Road after being severely assaulted. Peterson said she was still going in an out of consciousness as of Saturday afternoon.

Sheriff Peterson has requested that any information regarding the ongoing investigation be forwarded to the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department at 228-897-1364 or Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-877-787-5898.
