Suspects are in custody after one of two masked men struck a woman with the butt of a handgun in a home invasion reported Halloween night, police said.
The injured woman and a witness about 9:45 p.m. Monday night told police two men wearing masks went in an apartment in the 1600 block of Irish Hill Drive and demanded money, Biloxi police Maj. Christopher De Back said. One of the masked men struck her on the head and the burglars left with the woman’s purse, which held her car keys, he said.
Police later arrested James Phillip Bullock, 45, of Ocean Springs, and William Joseph Dodson, 21, of Biloxi, on a charge of burglary of an occupied dwelling, the state’s charge for a home invasion. Police arrested Richard David Covey Jr., 33, who is homeless, on a charge of accessory after the fact.
Officers responding to a 911 call were unable to find the suspects at the apartment complex, De Back said.
About an hour later, a caller told police a suspicious man was walking around the complex parking lot. Officers found Dodson with items taken in the burglary, he said.
Investigators identified the alleged burglars after that.
De Back said police obtained a search warrant for an apartment in the 200 block of Iberville Drive and arrested Covey.
Police arrested Bullock in the 1000 block of Division Street.
The men were taken to the Harrison County jail.
Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain set bonds at $150,000 each for Dodson and Bullock and $100,000 for Covey.
The three men are each on probation for assorted felonies and are wanted by the Mississippi Department of Corrections, De Back said. Their felony charges were not immediately available.
