Police arrested Dakota Daniel Wilkerson, 27, on multiple charges after he led them on a vehicle chase early Sunday morning.

An officer tried to pull Wilkerson over in the 1600 block of U.S. 90 for speeding, but a news release from the police department says he turned north onto Rodenberg Avenue, stopped briefly in a business parking lot, then sped away.

Wilkerson drove south on Rodenberg, then west on U.S. 90, before striking another vehicle at the intersection of the beach highway and Veterans Avenue.

Two passengers in Wilkerson’s vehicle and two occupants of the vehicle Wilkerson allegedly hit were taken to local hospitals for treatment of what appeared to be minor injuries.

Wilkerson has been charged with felony eluding, and also faces misdemeanor charges of speeding, driving on a suspended license and no insurance. He had two outstanding warrants for his arrest on misdemeanor theft charges.

Police ask that anyone with information about the incident call the Criminal Investigations Division at 228-435-6112 or the police department at 228-392-0641.

Information also can be submitted online by emailing criminal investigations at ciu@biloxi.ms.us or through an anonymous tip to Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers.
