Teen’s Snapchat threat against Vancleave High didn’t end well, police say

A 16-year-old is in Youth Court custody after he posted a threatening image on social media about Vancleave High School.

The teen is charged with making a cyber threat. He allegedly posted on Snapchat a picture of himself holding a gun with the caption, “Don’t come to school Monday.”

The image was sent anonymously to the high school principal, who recognized the teen and alerted the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Mike Ezell said in a news release.

Ezell said investigators found the gun at a residence where the teenager attended a party Saturday night. The gun appeared to be an antique, the news release said.
