Man wanted in shooting at Gulfport apartment complex turns himself in, police say

A 19-year-old wanted in connection with a shooting at William Bell Apartments has turned himself in, a police spokesman said.

Eric Demond Hamilton went to the Gulfport Police Department at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday after learning investigators had identified him as the shooter, Police Sgt. Joshua Bromen said.

A man was wounded in the shooting earlier Tuesday at the apartment complex on 65th Avenue, just north of 17th Street.

There’s no word yet on a possible motive.

Bromen has said the wounded man’s condition was not life-threatening.

Hamilton was wanted on an aggravated assault charge.

His bond was set at $50,000.

Hamilton was booked at the Harrison County jail about three hours turning himself in.
