An employee of Whispering Pines Golf Course in Jackson County has been accused of stealing money from the county-owned golf course.

Jackson County deputies arrested Katlin Nicole Shouse, 29, of Wade, on Friday, Sheriff Mike Ezell said in a news release issued Monday. She is charged with embezzlement.

Investigators had received a complaint from the manager that an employee was taking money, which led to Shouse’s arrest, Ezell said.

The golf course is in the Hurley community.

Investigators don’t yet know the amount of money taken or the time frame, but at least $1,000 is missing, and that makes the charge a felony, said Marcia Hill, the sheriff’s spokeswoman.

Shouse was released from the Jackson County jail Friday on a $1,000 bond.

The investigation continues.
