A woman accused of taking a car without permission helped herself to a credit card in the vehicle, causing the cardholder a loss of $10,000, police said.
The car is valued at $10,000, Biloxi Police Lt. Christopher De Back said.
Purchases with the owner’s credit card began showing up at different stores in Biloxi. The card had been used on purchases worth as much as the car.
Surveillance video at Walmart in Biloxi helped identify Stephanie Marie Bridges, 32, of Gulfport, De Back said.
Police arrested her Saturday on charges of embezzlement by trust and credit card fraud.
The embezzlement charge was filed as such because she had taken the car of an acquaintance and didn’t give it back, De Back said.
Bridges was booked at the Harrison County jail on bonds of $20,000 set by Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain.
She was released on bond Saturday night, the jail docket shows.
