Two men have been arrested in Hancock County on burglary charges after Hancock County Sheriff Ricky Adam said they stole some guns from a Boy Scout camp.

The Sea Coast Echo reports Jeremy Perkins, 30, of Kiln, and Dameon Cuevas, 34, also of Kiln, were arrested on two counts of commercial burglary and a charge of violation of probation. Perkins was arrested Aug. 9 and Cuevas was arrested Aug. 11.

Adam told the Sea Coast Echo the two men broke into a house at the Salmen Scout Reservation, located on V Bar Road in Perkinston. Among the items stolen were 11 rifles.

“There is a house at the camp that is used by various people during some of their events,” Adam told the Sea Coast Echo. “The house had been broken into and several items were taken, including 11 rifles.”

He said his office received some tips about the burglary that led to the arrests. The 11 rifles were recovered in a wooded area on Cameron Road. A tool box also was recovered at a different location.
