Police arrested a 68-year-old woman Sunday after she allegedly whacked her fiance in the head with a golf club.

Dora Dell Cook had stopped by her fiance’s home on Highway 15 and found a woman there, D’Iberville Police Capt. Marty Griffin said.

Police learned of the assault after receiving a call from Merit Health hospital in Biloxi. The fiance had gone to the emergency room for treatment, and he was released a few hours later, Griffin said.

Police arrested her on a charge of aggravated domestic assault, which is punishable by two to 20 years in prison.

Cook is free on $15,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the D’Iberville Police Department at 228-396-4252.
