Hotel guest robbed at gunpoint by someone who didn’t go far to hide, police say

Police arrested a hotel guest on an armed robbery charge after another guest reported being robbed at gunpoint, Pascagoula Police Capt. Doug Adams said.

The robbery at the Regency Inn on Hospital Road was reported late Sunday night. Officers went to the hotel about 11 p.m. and saw Anthony Leon Hurst Jr. quickly enter a hotel room, Adams said.

Police interviewed the person who was robbed and Hurst, 19, at the police department and learned Hurst had a Taurus 9mm Millennium handgun at the time of the robbery, Adams said.

Investigators determined Hurst’s girlfriend, 22-year-old Shantel Jermicia Toro, was aware of the robbery and later arrested her on an accessory charge.

Police arrested Hurst on an armed robbery charge, and he is being held at the Jackson County jail on a $100,000 bond.

Toro was being held with no bond pending a court appearance.

Their hometowns were not immediately available.
