A man convicted of trying to sexually assault a 15-year-old girl when he was 23 was arrested in Gulfport several years after he avoided supervision, records show.
Gulfport police arrested David Francisco Pena, 32, on Sunday morning. He reportedly has been living in Pearl River County.
Pena was wanted on two arrest warrants on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender. The Nebraska Board of Parole wants him. And the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department wants him, Harrison County jail records show.
Pena was 24 when he was convicted Jan. 22, 2009, of attempted first-degree sexual assault of a juvenile in Hall County, Nebraska, sex offender registries show. He also is known as X Boy and Boy Moniker.
The girl was from Austin, Texas, according to a Nebraska State Police press release published by Nebraska.TV in August 2008.
Pena had met the girl on Myspace, a social networking site, the release said. Pena picked her up in Austin and took her to his home in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Investigators found the girl at his residence Aug. 11, 2008.
Pena was sent to prison and ordered to register as a sex offender for 25 years. That would be until 2034, when he is 49.
Pena served about two years behind bars. He received about a year’s credit for good behavior and was paroled in August 2010, the Nebraska state prison website shows.
He fled from supervision nearly four years later, a sex offender registrar reported on Jan. 31, 2014.
