Police say they’ve arrested a man who stole two hotdogs and a gallon of antifreeze from a convenience store. And they’ve arrested the woman who was traveling with him.

James M. Bryant, 24, of Hattiesburg, punched a store clerk in the face several times during the robbery about 11:56 p.m. Saturday, Ocean Springs Police Capt. William Jackson said.

It happened at the Circle K at Washington Avenue and Bienville Boulevard, also known as U.S. 90.

The injured clerk called police and described the assailant and the getaway vehicle, Jackson said. A short time later, an officer saw the car on U.S. 90 and stopped it.

Police arrested Bryant and his passenger, Christina Mara Martinez, 29, of Laurel, on charges of strong-armed robbery and receiving stolen property.

The vehicle they were traveling in had been reported stolen in Mendenhall, Jackson said.

Bryant and Martinez were being held at the Ocean Springs city jail pending an initial court appearance.
