Police are trying to figure out what happened that led to a shooting at a park that left one person wounded, Police Chief Calvin Hutchins said.
Hutchins said a Singing River Hospital campus officer called police to tell them someone had been brought to the hospital with a gunshot wound on Friday afternoon.
A male victim was shot at Eddie Khayat Memorial Park around 4 p.m., Hutchins said.
Police went to the park and found evidence that points to the location of the shooting, Hutchins said, and investigators are at Singing River Hospital talking to a witness.
The victim was taken to the hospital by private vehicle. Hutchins said the man’s name and age is not yet known.
The incident is under investigation.
