Gulfport Police say a 33-year-old man was awaiting trial after getting arrested for his third DUI, which is a felony, when he decided to drink and drive — again.

Thomas Brian Ackerman was arrested Monday on a charge of fourth DUI, a felony.

Gulfport police Public Information Officer Joshua Bromen said Ackerman’s arrest was the result of a traffic stop around 1:40 a.m. Monday in the area of U.S. 49 and O’Neal Road.

Ackerman was taken to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where his bond was set at $50,000 by Judge Melvin Ray.

He was indicted on his third DUI charge in January.

Bromen said Ackerman has not yet been released on bond.
