FBI agents have arrested a Gulfport man on charges involving a 34-foot boat stolen from Belle Chasse, Louisiana, four years ago.

Justin Griffing, 33, was arrested Tuesday and released on bond after an initial court appearance in U.S. District Court in Gulfport.

The boat in question is a Fountain vessel with three 300-horsepower engines and it was found at Griffing’s home, according to an FBI news release.

The manufacturer has determined the hull number on the boat had been changed.

An indictment unsealed Tuesday alleges Griffing, aided by others, brought the boat to Gulfport between June 25, 2012, and Jan. 12, 2013.

He was found in possession of the boat July 14, 2014, the indictment said.

A federal grand jury indicted him Nov. 15 on one count each of transportation of a stolen vehicle and receipt of a stolen vehicle.

Griffing was released on an unsecured bond of $25,000 after his appearance, court records show. He will be arraigned on Dec. 15, when he will enter a plea.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the FBI’s Gulfport office at 228-864-6131.
