A Florida man is accused of taking items out of a vehicle parked on property at Scarlet Pearl Casino, D’Iberville police said.
Police Capt. Marty Griffin said Stephen Hubert Smith, 45, of Milton, Fla., was arrested on a charge of burglary of a motor vehicle.
Officers responded to the Scarlet Pearl on Thursday after getting a tip that a man was looking into a vehicle and “acting suspicious,” Griffin said.
When Smith saw officers, he ran toward Central Avenue, police said, but they later found him standing near a vehicle parked on Scarlet Pearl’s property.

After reviewing surveillance footage and searching the area, officers found items Smith had left behind that had been taken from a vehicle on the property, Griffin said.
Smith is held with no bond at the Harrison County jail. He had been released on $50,000 bond in July on an unrelated arrest by the D’Iberville Police Department.
