A 20-year-old Gulfport man has become the 10th homicide victim in Gulfport this year.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said Trevues Martin died at the scene from a gunshot wound to the head.

Martin was sitting in the driver’s seat of a car in his grandmother’s driveway when he was shot. Police responded to the home on Monterey Drive about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Martin would have been 21 on Wednesday, relatives told the Sun Herald.

He was the second person shot and killed in Gulfport in a span of about 24 hours.

Phillip Dwayne Kennedy, 37, was shot and killed about 9:30 p.m. Monday while sitting in a car at 25th Street and Roberts Avenue. Police said the shooting was in self-defense and that no charges would be filed.

No one is in custody in Martin’s shooting, police said, and investigators are still working on the case.

Anyone with information about Martin’s death is asked to call Gulfport police at 228-868-5959.
