A man wanted on murder and attempted murder charges in Lauderdale County was arrested on the Coast on Monday.
According to the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, a narcotics investigator received information that Diamonte Deron Scott, who is wanted in a homicide in Lauderdale County, might have left there and gone to Gulfport. Investigators thought Scott, 25, would be in an area of U.S. 49 and after several hours of searching, found a black Ford Focus Scott was believed to be riding in on U.S. 90.
Authorities saw Scott was in the car and called for help from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Gautier Police Department. The car made its way onto Interstate 10, then exited into Gautier, where authorities were able to stop it and take him into custody, Harrison County Sheriff Troy Peterson said.
A double-barrel pistol was found in the glove box, Peterson said.
