Authorities have released more details in the Stone County crash that claimed the life of a woman Friday evening.

Stone County Coroner Wayne Flurry on Saturday identified the victim as 53-year-old Nancy Jean Sexton of McHenry.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Cpl. Chase Elkins said there was a two-vehicle crash in the southbound lane of U.S. 49 near Perkinston Road about 4:10 p.m. Friday.

Elkins said it appeared a Mt. Olive man was traveling southbound in the left lane on U.S. 49 in a 2004 Honda accord. He said the Honda went off the left side of the road toward the median and the driver over-corrected, veering into the right lane.

The front of the Honda crashed into the front driver's side of a 2007 Dodge Caliber, which Sexton was driving in the right lane, Elkins said. The Dodge ran off the road to the right and crashed into a tree.

Sexton was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash, Flurry said Friday.

Elkins said neither the driver nor passenger of the Honda were injured.

The crash is still under investigation.
