The Moss Point mayor and Board of Aldermen voted Tuesday evening to suspend Police Chief Art McClung without pay, pending an investigation of the events surrounding McClung’s July 29 traffic stop, according to Alderman Wayne Lennep.

The decision was made in a special meeting, in response to a Sun Herald report that detailed how Pascagoula police officers drove McClung home after the officers clocked him driving 109 mph in a city vehicle and McClung told the officers he’d had “at least three vodkas.” No report was generated from the incident and no charges filed.

Moss Point Mayor Billy Broomfield could not be reached for comment, despite repeated phone calls.
