A Jackson County deputy has been fired for what Sheriff Mike Ezell is calling “sexual misconduct.”
Ezell said the deputy, whose name was not released, was terminated.
Ezell told the Sun Herald an internal investigation had been launched into allegations involving the deputy and an inmate at the county jail.
“It was brought to my attention that an employee with the Jackson County Adult Detention Center had gotten involved with some type of sexual misconduct with a female inmate,” he said. “We did an internal investigation and found the allegations to be true.
“No charges have been made at this time, but all of the evidence has been turned over to the DA’s office.”
