Deputy clerk decides not to leave Ocean Springs for Pascagoula

The city has kept one key employee, who tendered her resignation recently for a better paying position with the city of Pascagoula.

Deputy City Clerk Karen Kennedy decided not to leave her job after aldermen offered her a $5,000 raise and a new title this week, according to city officials.

Another key employee, Ravin Floyd, public relations officer and executive assistant to the mayor and aldermen, is leaving after two years, however. The salary differential between the two cities in her case is closer to $15,000.

Aldermen also accepted the resignation of patrolman Adam Lambert, who took a job with Biloxi police. Losing patrolmen and firefighters to better paying jobs in other cities is a common occurrence for Ocean Springs.

Kennedy turned in her letter of resignation last week after more than eight years with the city and said it wasn’t an easy decision, leaving Ocean Springs for Pascagoula.

Aldermen met Tuesday night and said they made an effort to match Pascagoula’s offer. Her new title is chief deputy clerk for Ocean Springs.

Floyd’s last day is Friday. Lambert’s resignation was effective Monday.
