MOSS POINT -- The Moss Point School District is announcing vacancies in almost all of its school principal positions, two months before the end of the school year.

On the school's website under employment opportunities is principal for the Alternative School, Escatawpa Elementary, Moss Point Kreole Primary and Moss Point High. All are listed as vacant. The new superintendent replaced Moss Point Middle School's principal earlier this year, hiring Susan Stachowski.

The start date given on the website for the four principal jobs is July 1. That would put the school district in the position of having new principals at all five of its schools before the start of the next school year.

When asked if this was an indicator of anything, school spokeswoman Stephanie Packard said, "I guess we're looking for new principals."

Packard said she does not comment on personnel issues. Superintendent Shannon Vincent had no comment Thursday but offered an interview today.

The school district hired Vincent in May from the Pascagoula School District, where she was principal for three years of the Opportunity Center, an alternative school.

As Moss Point superintendent, Vincent has instituted the citywide "All In" campaign for residents and city leaders to garner community support for the district.

Packard said she could not comment on whether the principals had been let go by the school district as a sweep or whether they decided to seek other employment independently.

"If (the positions) are on our website as vacant, they are vacant," she said.
