Report: Phoenix Suns rookie Devin Booker to take part in Rising Stars Challenge
After an initial snub, Phoenix Suns rookie Devin Booker will take part in the Rising Stars Challenge during the NBA's All-Star Weekend.
The Moss Point product will replace Nerlens Noel of the Philadephia 76ers, who is dealing with knee tendinitis, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical website.
The game, which features many of the NBA's top young players, will be played at 8 p.m. on Friday and will be televised by TNT.
Booker is also set to take part
The Suns have struggled to a 14-40 record, but Booker has seen his minutes and stats improve in recent weeks.
Booker is averaging 10.6 points and 2.2 rebounds a game for the Suns this season. He has been the NBA's top rookie when it comes to 3-point shooting, hitting 40.3 percent of his attempts.
He averaged 17.3 points a game in January and is averaging 16.6 points through five games in February.
The 6-foot-6 Booker scored a season high of 32 on Jan. 19 in a 97-94 loss to Indiana.
