Supervisors appoint new SRHS trustee

PASCAGOULA -- The Jackson County Board of Supervisors approved the appointment of Jeffery Belk to the Singing River Hospital's governing Board of Trustees.

Board of Supervisors President Barry Cumbest offered Belk to replace Allen Cronier, who resigned several months ago, due to health reasons. The term expires January 2019. There was no resume offered at the meeting, but county officials said they believe Belk works at the Chevron Pascagoula Refinery and is on the Jackson County Civil Service Commission.

Belk granted a short interview to television stations after the Board of Supervisors meeting Monday, but refused to speak with the Sun Herald.
