GAUTIER -- Wal-Mart no longer has concrete plans to put a store in Gautier at the Singing River Mall site, city officials were told.
The city got an update last night and said this morning that the company has shifted focus.
At one time, there were plans to build a Wal-Mart at the site this year.
City officials said Wednesday that the mall redevelopment project is a private enterprise, but the city has remained supportive with an offer of tax increment financing bonds that give developers incentive and a tax break.

The Singing River Mall, in place for more than 40 years in the heart of Gautier, was demolished a year ago to make way for new development. The lone store on the property is Belk, which city officials say is thriving.
The redevelopment is slated to be part of Gautier creating a town center, just off U.S. 90.
It is not a Wal-Mart project, but the ideas is to remake Singing River Mall into a lifestyle shopping venue with many options for retail, something the city can be proud of, Mayor Gordon Gollott said.
